Robotic joint motors
High torque, low weight robot joint motors.
New from maxon, this unique integration of brushless, frameless DC motor, zero backlash gearhead and full motion control electronics forming a complete robotic joint assembly. Featuring Dual feedback loops with two integrated encoders. An incremental encoder on the motor and another absolute encoder on the output give optimal position control by compensating for gearhead elasticity under high torques. An integrated torque sensor allows for control safety in cobot (collaborative robot) applications. Additional safety for long arm and multiple joint applications is catered for by a power fail safety holding brake. Three sizes are available, diameters 70, 80 and 110mm, all feature a hollow bore allowing passage of communications, slip ring mounting or pneumatic lines. Peak torques to 103Nm and power to 260W. Speed and torque refinement with selectable gearbox reduction ratios between 51:1 and 161:1. maxon offer a pre-configuration service on the complete DC motor drive assembly. All motor encoder and brake parameters are stored in the onboard controller for plug and play use. Full parameter adjustment via USB using the free EPOS studio software and control via CanOpen or Ethercat. The unit is also suitable for use as a hollow bore brushless DC gear motor. For variable speed and continuous speed applications it can be sup-plied without the motion controller and an external brushless servoamplifier can control the speed and direction. This, along with it being sealed, makes the unit also suitable for precision manufacturing equipment and harsh environment use.
