Based on customer demand for specific torque points from brushless DC motors, maxon motor have released the HT version of the ECi series. With a 30W increase in power the new DC motor is able to deliver 340mNm at almost 4000rpm. The new motors length is 90.8mm. They are already available for ordering and can be coupled with the 42mm ceramic planetary gearbox and a range of digital encoders for speed and position control of the brushless motor. Key features include a stainless steel body and end flanges that are seam welded together to give a seal against dust and water, but this also provides a more robust and long lasting solution than traditional methods like through body bolting or flange pinning. The shaft is pressed and does not contain any clip groove giving a higher radial load strength and increased torsional stability for smooth operation. A maximum winding temperature of 155°C allows for use in tough ambient conditions from -40°C to +100°. The brushless motor is available in 4 standard voltages 18V,24V,36V and 48V DC allowing engineers to select speed and torque characteristics to suit gearbox ratios and controller speed ranges for the applications best fit. It is a 16 pole, 3 phase design which gives it the unique running features of both high torque and high maximum speeds of up to 8000rpm.
