The butterfly will travel for four years through 90 nations and six continents, bringing public attention to more than 1000 pioneering projects that offer climate change solutions.
About the Solar Butterfly Pioneer World Tour
The Solar Butterfly is a tiny mobile house powered by solar energy. Louis Palmer is the project founder together with his team will undertake a journey taking four years. They will travel across all continents generating media attention when visiting over 1000 pioneering ideas and projects from 90 countries to slow down global warming.
The eye-catching Butterfly has been built to be fully self-powered.
maxon’s drives are installed in the expandable walls and the “eyes” of the butterfly. The mechanism on its roof unfolds solar panels in the shape of “butterfly wings” with a large wingspan of 80 square metres collect enough energy to drive up to 300 kilometres a day. It’s a fully equipped tiny house with living space for four persons, with
solar-powered water heaters and rainwater purificators and even a TV studio.
The Solar Butterfly is coming to Australia and will land in Perth and travel across the country before departing from Brisbane. The crew will be visiting local residents, schools and political leaders.
