DC motors in biohazard conditions
DC motors and gearbox technologies developed especially for an application operating in a biohazard environment.
Industrial robustness of a DC motor and quality of manufacture combine to form a unique gearmotor application. Adhering to IP ratings, axial and radial loadings developed for use in a trolley application to operate in a corrosive environment.
With a single piece stainless steel housing gearbox produced with proportionately large motor shaft and ball bearings, the nominated gearbox was chosen to cope with maximum motor speed and torque proficiencies. The DC motor was selected for it’s easy assembly with a high precision Spiral Bevel gearbox. The gearbox needed a dual output shaft for use as the entire cart load, and cart axle with a wheel fitted to each side, needed to be absorbed radially by the gearhead bearings. The special spiral bevel gearheads are designed to meet lots of diverse applications and not just those fitted to DC motors.
The selected gearbox featured a high mechanical rigidity with a single piece construction, accurate ground gear sets to optimise efficiency, low backlash and were sealed & lubricated for life. Standard worm gearheads do not have radial load ability nor the efficiency required by operating in a bio-hazard environment, even though they are capable of transmitting the motor speed and torque.
